Jan 29, 2024 · In this study, the effects of sawdust (CK) and spent mushroom compost (T1) as auxiliary materials on nitrogen as well as microbial structure in the composting process when composted with chicken manure were investigated. At the end of composting, the nitrogen loss of T1 was reduced by 17.18% relative to CK.
Nov 1, 2019 · @article{Duan2019ChangesIA, title={Changes in antibiotic resistance genes and mobile genetic elements during cattle manure composting after inoculation with Bacillus subtilis.}, author={Manli Duan and Yuhua Zhang and Beibei Zhou and Quanjiu Wang and Jie Gu and Guohuan Liu and Zhenlun Qin and Zhijian Li}, journal={Bioresource technology}, year
Apr 1, 2020 · The composting was carried out by adding 20% (w/w) of biochar into the mixture of poultry manure and rice straw with a ratio of 2:1, and the same treatment without biochar was prepared as a control. The finished product of control compost recorded the high contents of NO 2 - and NO 3 - (366 mg/kg and 600 mg/kg) with reduced the total NH 4
Oct 20, 2021 · Recently, we have been searching a better solution to remove antibiotics and ARGs during aerobic composting. Here, the dynamics of chitosan addition on the profiles of 71 ARGs, bacterial communities, chlortetracycline (CTC), ofloxacin (OFX) were investigated in chicken manure composting and compared with zeolite addition.
Jun 22, 2022 · One way to increase yields in agriculture using organic alternative is the introduction of manure-based composts into the soil. However, the use of such composts carries a risk of soil contamination with antibiotic resistance genes (ARG) from the gut and manure of the livestock. The contamination of the composts with heavy metals or antibiotics can increase this risk, while the
Feb 21, 2024 · Compost samples were collected from an industrial chicken manure composting facility in Xixian New Area (Shaanxi, China). The dimensions of the compost pile are 2 m (H), 5 m (W), and 6 m (L), respectively. The auxiliary materials added for manure composting include Chinese herb and eggshells.
Apr 1, 2023 · Antibiotic residue in husbandry waste has become a serious concern. In this study, contaminated chicken manure composting was conducted to reveal the bioaugmentation effect on tetracyclines residue and antibiotics resistance genes (ARGs). The bioaugmented composting removed most of the antibiotics in 7 days.
Feb 29, 2024 · Step 1: Collection and Preparation. Begin by gathering chicken manure and bedding material, typically straw or sawdust, from your coop. This mixture already has a balanced carbon-to-nitrogen ratio conducive to composting. Ensure the manure is fresh to preserve the nitrogen content, which can evaporate if left exposed.
Sep 28, 2023 · Choose the right container: Use a compost bin or designated area to contain the chicken manure and other organic matter. Provide proper airflow: Ensure adequate aeration in the compost pile by turning it regularly or using a compost tumbler, allowing oxygen to reach the microorganisms responsible for decomposition.
Mar 24, 2024 · Learn how to properly compost chicken manure and waste by creating a compost pile or bin specifically designed to break down chicken waste into a nutrient-rich organic fertilizer for your garden or plants. We cover the best practices for maintaining the right carbon to nitrogen ratio, turning frequency, and end uses for fully decomposed compost.
Apr 1, 2024 · Chicken manure (CM) can pose a serious threat to environmental and human health, and need to be managed properly. The compost can effectively treat CM. However, there is limited research on the heavy metals and antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) during compost CM.
Feb 1, 2022 · Chicken manures composting could be guaranteed even under intense metals stress. Abstract. Heavy metal pollution was the main risk during livestock manures composting, in which microorganisms played a vital role. However, response strategies of microbial community to heavy metals stress (HMS) remained largely unclear.
Composting reduces the volume and density of manure approximately 50-65% (Figures 1 and 2). The decrease in volume reduces hauling costs. Wiederholt et al., (2009) conducted a case study that compared the energy required of a 180-head feedlot operation that applied raw manure and composted manure to agricultural fields.
Feb 15, 2018 · Aerobic composting is used widely for animal manure recycling, and it may reduce the amount of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) that enter the environment. We sampled three types of animal (bovine, chicken, and pig) manure and the corresponding composts from 12 large-scale farms, and tested multiple ARGs and mobile genetic elements (MGEs) by
Jul 21, 2023 · The improved composting equipment successfully maintained the compost material’s high-temperature duration at 7 days, which is in compliance with the Chinese standard document “Technical Specification for Harmless Treatment of Livestock and Poultry Manure” (GB/T 36195-2018).
